Possibly The Best iPad App For Kids To Date

When I look at my iPad apps, I know I have just too many of them. After all, my nephews always goes to the same apps over and over again skipping everything they've already tried and never liked in the past.. and they are too young to even understand how impressive their behavior is.

This is why I decided to clean up some of the apps, and make room for new ones. This is when I found about Pango Playground, and I kid you not, if I enjoyed it so much, your kids will love it! This app is just pure fun and a basket of magical surprises - I can't wait to meet with my nephews next week to show them this one!

So what this app is all about?
4 scenes of playground where kids can click on any item to find what it does. They can also drag & drop objects around to find more surprises.
Magic at their fingertips! That what it is.

Now for the good part:
3 free codes for the first readers.

The app is for 2+ year old, but older kids might love it too.

Would love to hear what you think!
(and check out Pango website for more great apps)

Stylus for Kids - Works with Thousands of Apps

Whenever I want to draw or sign something on my iPad, I use my Stylus. It feels morenatural in the hand and the results are much better than using fingers. When it comes to toddlers, I'm sure fingers will do just fine, but bigger kids that don't want to color outside the lines, or want to draw something from scratch, or even write, Stylus is a wonderful tool for just that.

I recently got some samples to give away from a company called DanoToys. What I love about their Stylus is the fact it is completely designed for kids. It feels like you're holding a crayon, and even when you use it on the iPad you need to press a little in order to make it work, not like any other Stylus I know when painting is very smooth, almost too smooth. With this Stylus, the physical sense is absolutely brilliant.

The Crayon Stylus comes with AppCrayon where your kids can learn how to write and practice traditional motor skills while playing their favorite Apps. There are thousands of coloring and eLearning apps on the store that you can use with this Stylus, and I simply can't think of one reason why your kid won't love it. I would also encourage them to take it to school if they allowed to use a tablet there.

It says here on the package that this product can be used from 3 year old of age and up. I'm almost sure my two years nephew would love it as well as my 10 years one. What can I say, I want to use it instead of my grownup Stylus.. it is that good.

Luckily for you I have two Crayon Stylus to give away so all you need to do is to write down in the comments that you want one, and I'll pick two readers randomly. (only people with kids, or nephews at a suitable age please)

Available at Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Walgreens for $9.99

The Best Coloring Book App for iPad!

I've already covered some of the best coloring book apps for kids, but this new app tops them all.
Meet Cool Coloring - 10 coloring pages with beautiful drawings, special color textures, unique plate color, cute characters and pleasant sound effects.

This Application is for children at the age of 2 to 5 years old. Painting through this app is really easy, kids just need to choose a color, then click on the area they want to fill it with. Cool-Coloring has a great feature that I haven't seen anywhere else, and this is why this app suitable for toddlers also: a multi-color button that show a random color each time you click on the coloring page. This technique makes it easy to color a perfect picture with no effort at all (might be too easy for bigger kids though).

Overall, a wonderful App that is surprisingly Free and Ad-free.

Who Wants To Be An Astronaut?

If you ask kids what they want to be when they grow up, they'll probably say: I want to be an Astronaut. Space is indeed fascinating when you are a kid, let alone when you are a grown up.

Wee Rockets is a groovy app that allows kids at the age of 3-6 to build a rocket by drag & drop its elements on the screen (just like a puzzle), choose from 4 cute Astronauts, then fly through space in a mission to save the lovely aliens.

The game is fairly easy, and the graphics are beautiful! But I personally felt it lacks of something.. after playing with it for the first time I was thinking to myself: That's it? I wanted more action, more levels, or at least a sign that I am a Hero for saving all the aliens..
Having said that, when you are a kid, this kind of game is just enough to make you happy. I've also been informed by the app maker that they are working on adding some more Rocket parts and improvements - so this is good.

Luckily I have some promo codes to give away - Grab them here as fast as you can:

Augmented Reality for Children. More of These Apps Please!

A collaboration between Johnson & Johnson and Disney, led to a super-magical app for kids!
BAND-AID application adds an Augmented Reality layer while pointing an iPhone or an iPad at a real band-aid. (made by Johnson & Johnson)

Obviously, this is a wonderful idea because it can reduce the fear and really help kids forget a scratch pain easily when turning the experience into a fun game. Needless to say kids can put a band-aid with no reason at all just to watch the cute Muppet videos that worth watching at any time!

Don't have this kind of band-aid and must try it now??
  • Download the application
  • Point the app on the band-aids on this post (find more on their Facebook page)
  • Choose your favorite Muppet (Kermit, Miss Piggy, and Gonzo)
  • and enjoy the show!
Augmented Reality is a real interesting technology to use in Advertising, and as shown here it definitely takes it to a whole new level. I sure hope we'll see more of this unusual marketing way on more products. Batter than any online banner or campaign, and can be used on-the-go. But most important, it's fun.

You can buy the Muppets Band-Aids in Amazon.

4 New iPad Apps for Kids Worth Downloading This Weekend [FREE]

Over the week I see so many great applications that I want to write about but not always have the time for it. So I think it will be a good idea to post several apps all together to enjoy over the weekends.

Starting this week with a wonderful game for kids at the age of 5 to 85 :)
Ballooned is an adventure game where kids needs to pops balloons using all kind of cute weapons. The game is colorful and very intuitive for younger kids, with lots of surprises along the way.

Car Wash is just as good as PepiBath (only this one is free). A game which allows kids to make a car really dirty, then clean it. I loved just about everything in this game: the graphics, music, fun caracters, and the overall concept - and I also believe the part of cleaning the car is actually educational.

A sweet coloring book with music and fun activity is Farm Play. Now, I've tried a lot of coloring book apps before, but this one if playful and very easy to color with. Might be too easy for kids older than 5 years old though. Also, only 10 coloring pages, but I'm sure your kids will want to go back and paint them over and over again (probably because of the fun music and sounds)

Glasses is an interactive eBook about a boy who wears glasses but they are little big for him..
It's a beautiful story with some fun objects and sound, but more important, it outline a common problem where children who just started (or need to) wear glasses have some difficulties with the new experience. This book will be perfect for them.

Awesome Eats is Truly AWESOME!

Let me start by saying this is not a game for kids only. I had fun testing it myself and at some point the levels become really hard! So I would say, anyone between the age of 6 to 100 can play this game.

The main idea is to sort fruits, veggies and whole grains inside boxes while the crazy conveyor belts are moving. The fun part is that each level is different and more elements are constantly added. And of course, in order to unlock the next level you'll need to pass the one before.

It is a great way for parents to teach their children about good and healthy nutrition. The app also provide helpful tips about that during the game.

Overall, a fun game for the whole family, with 32 challenging levels, a cast of over 50 cute characters. a gamification system, and lots of surprises.

Download is free, with no Ads or other interruptions - just a really great game that I hope will expand its levels number soon (I'm sure there will be demand for it)

Knock’em Down!

Someone has sent me this awesome game and ever since I'm addicted.
But yeah, it's for kids (too).

Gaston #2 HD, is all about how many tin cans you can knock down. Very similar to the known Amusement Park game where you physically need to knock as many cans off the shelf. It also reminds AngryBirds, simply because you need to aim at something in order to take it off.

Although it doesn't have the most amazing UI, I actually liked the comics style graphic and didn't care much about the rest of its visual elements. What important really is that it's a fun game to play alone, or with the whole family.

The game contain many levels that are not so easy to pass (which is challenging), and the best part is that it's free, plus ads-free.

Beautiful Email App Made For Children

Meet Maily. A safe and fun e-mail environment for children to send and receive e-mails with friends and family. With Maily, kids from 4 years old up can easily email family members using five fundamental tools: pencils, brushes, backgrounds, stickers and their own words using drawing (I would love to see an actual text keyboard for bigger children who want to say more than "hi grandma")

How does this works:

First download the iPad app (it's free).

Register yourself as a parent, aunt or any other member of the family. Only then you can register your kid. Once you do that (and don't worry, you can supervise each email your kid send or receive), you can easily add people to the contact list. Such as mom, dad, brother, sister, grandma, etc. Finally you get to see both areas: The parents dashboard, and your kid area, where he/she can log in without any help from you, and start email away.
Their own personal inbox allows them to view and reply to e-mails from their friends and family. When their e-mail is created, they can easily send it to any of their friends and family.

Maily for iPad is only made for the needs of kids. Anyone who get an email sent by your child can open it by log in from the web app. Parents and contacts can reply from the parent dashboard. Maily also made it simple for the parents by creating adorable lovely short videos, with messages like: Good Night, Hello, Kiss, and more, for an easy and fun reply:

Can't wait to try it out with my 10 years old nephew. Only yesterday I promised I'll open a Gmail inbox just for him, but now that I've tested Maily, I might hold this promise back for a while..

Pepi Bath - A Role-play Game For Children

No wonder this game is at the top download list in the App-store - It is a real fun game for kids at the age of 2 to 8.

It starts with a cute character named PEPI (a boy or a girl to choose from), which take a part in 4 different situations children usually go through during the day. This actually means this app can help parents with kids that don't like taking a bath for example. Parents can also use this app to teach their children the process before bad time. Or, just let the kids play freely, they will get the idea pretty quick. Kids are like that.

Here's the best part: The app is awesome yet free (!) and there is no advertising or in-app purchase inside it.
